Are you getting enough greens?

Are you getting enough greens?

August is here, although the weather at the moment is more monsoon season than high summer! The birthstone for those with an August birthday is peridot.  Peridot is the rare gem-quality variety of the mineral olivine, which forms deep inside the Earth's mantle and is brought to the surface by volcanoes. Sometimes peridot is also found inside meteorites. The stones signature green colour comes from the composition of the mineral itself. The shade can vary from yellowish green to olive, to brownish green, depending on how much iron is present. Most of the world's peridot supply comes from Arizona, but...

Ruby Tuesday

Ruby Tuesday

I can't believe July is here already! I have nearly been in my new shop a year! I thought I would do a post about birthstones, and because it's July, specifically about the ruby. Alternative Ear Adornment

Alternative Ear Adornment

I have always liked the idea of alternative ear adornment. Multiple ear piercing is huge at the moment, and there are now lots of earrings which can be worn alone or in multiples to create a layered, edgy, asymmetric look.  Whilst I don't necessarily want to commit to multiple piercings, I do like the idea of a curated look which can easily be achieved with the new designs currently available. The renewed interest in ear adornment has led to a revival of the ear cuff for which no piercing is required. It usually slots on to the upper outer part...

The Art of Stacking

The Art of Stacking

I am always trying new ways of stacking my own rings.  Here are some of my favourite combinations. As you can see, I favour chunky over delicate, but basically anything goes. Just play around until you find a combination which is pleasing and comfortable for you. This is actually my wedding ring /engagement stack which kind of evolved over time. My original wedding ring and engagement ring were gold, a metal I don't often wear so I had them remodelled into the first ring with the diamond. The diamond is from my original engagement ring, and the gold around it...

Beautiful Botanicals

Beautiful Botanicals

I love the new range of botanical jewellery, which is available in store and online now! The collection is made by creating moulds directly from botanical elements, similar to the lost wax casting method. While traditional lost-wax casting begins with a hand carved model of wax, this technique uses an actual leaf, branch or flower in place of a wax model. The mould is created around the botanical element and as it is heated the plant matter burns away and leaves behind a beautifully detailed mould of itself. The jewellery is cast in bronze which is then patinated and accented...
